  • Providing US/APac/LatAm Citi Legal colleagues with local assistance throughout EMEA in connection with cross-border litigation and/or with requests for information and documents received from regulatory authorities in other regions.

  • Working with Citi’s Corporate Affairs team in relation to any related media coverage.

  • Advising on recoveries issues, including those arising out of domestic and cross-border insolvencies.

  • Assisting in maintaining a litigation reporting database and in the preparation of bespoke, periodic internal reports for submission to senior executive management; various internal governance bodies; and the boards of directors of Citigroup, Inc. and a number of its subsidiaries.

Development Value

This challenging role will broaden and deepen the employee`s experience and knowledge of banking and financial services matters generally and of legal and regulatory systems across a range of EMEA jurisdictions as well as, potentially, those of the United States and the other regions in which Citi operates globally. The successful candidate will deal on a day-to-day basis with colleagues in Citi’s other control functions (in particular, Compliance, Internal Audit and Risk) and will likely gain exposure to senior members of Citi’s management team, both regionally and globally.  The workload will (as noted above) be varied (both in terms of subject matter and geography) and will often entail the handling of highly sensitive internal and/or regulatory investigations as well as of commercial disputes and regulatory issues, which are significant for the institution both economically and in terms of reputation.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience should have been obtained either in private practice with a major law firm or in-house with another significant financial institution.

  • Witness interview and report drafting skills are a pre-requisite.

  • Banking or financial industry experience
