Citi’s Banking franchise is organized around three lines of business: Investment Banking, Corporate Banking and Commercial Banking. The unified Banking and International organization oversees the local delivery of the full firm to clients in each of the 95 markets where Citi has an on-the-ground presence. Citi Commercial Bank (CCB) is a solutions-led business for the demands of mid-sized and emerging corporates.

We’re currently looking for a high caliber professional to join our team as Credit Lending Management (CLM) Head in Hong Kong CCB. The position will lead the team and play a key first line of defense (1LOD) role to ensure the portfolio is grown in an appropriate manner, the right culture maintained, new talent identified and onboarded, and the skill set of the team enhanced.

Hong Kong CLM Head oversees a large team of in-business (1LOD) credit professionals and has management responsibility for all credit underwriting activities assigned to the team.



Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of credit analysts / credit officers and manage complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas.
  • Lead CLM Team in credit risk assessment and transaction structuring.
  • Provide guidance to the team and become a point of reference for the interpretation, application and compliance with Credit Policies, Standards and Procedures.
  • Take a leading role in greenlight discussions and approvals of credit transactions.
  • Provide 1LOD credit approvals on credit transactions.
  • Maintain a strong focus on Turnaround Times to improve client experience and minimize adverse selection.
  • Coordinate activities of CLM Team leads and Underwriters to ensure efficient credit process and fast turnaround times.
  • Take full end to end responsibility for the credit process for CCB Hong Kong.
  • Ensure a strong risk and control environment.
  • Track and report on initiatives, performance results, emerging trends, and opportunities to senior management
  • Establish cross-functional partnerships and networks in order to support the execute cross-functional and business initiatives.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
  • This role will report to the Head of CCB, Hong Kong, with a matrix reporting line to the Cluster CLM Head

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of banking experience in credit risk management or equivalent training
  • Experience in leading and managing team
  • Senior Credit Officer (SCO) delegation is preferred.
  • Experience in the financial services industry preferred
  • Demonstrated accountability for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/geographic regions.
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Proven negotiation skills often used at a senior level.
  • Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communications skill.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with urgency.
  • Comprehensive understanding of strategic direction of the function

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred
