Director, Head of Securities Services Operations

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Securities Services Operations Site Head, Japan, is a senior and country management position responsible for accomplishing results through the management and oversight of Securities Services Operations teams, driving a variety of activities in accordance with clients and regulatory obligations. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the seamless delivery of Citi’s platform and activities associated with Securities Services in Japan.

The position reports directly to the Citi Japan Operations and Technology Head, with a matrix reporting line to the Asia Pacific Securities Services Operations Head.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Partnering and influencing with local, regional, and global teams to determine and implement the strategic approach for the Operations function/ site.
• Assuring alignment on the Operating model with regional and global functional operating strategy, and that they adequately service the needs of our clients.
• Working to ensure that all operations activities comply with regulatory guidelines.
• BAU operations while maintaining a pristine control environment. The role requires an in-depth understanding of the Securities Services business.
• Managing clients, regulatory, and internal stakeholder interactions. Significant experience of managing teams, employee engagement, development, and staff diversity will be key to ensure a motivated and engaged workforce.
• Process re-engineering and automation to help build scalability while meeting annual productivity commitments
• Understanding the industry, competitors, and internal product offering to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business, and drive improvements within the functional areas, including leading a successful risk control environment.

Skills

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent credentials

(Master’s degree preferred)

• Consistently detail-oriented and goal-oriented; ability to work as a team across different functions
• Strong knowledge of Securities Services business
• More than 15 years of working experience in the Securities Services industry or relevant Operations management with Banking and Financial Institutions, with direct experience in managing teams
• Strong interpersonal and managerial skills, with executive presence and client-centric mindset
• Effective project management and negotiation skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in English and Japanese
• Culturally empathetic
• Demonstrated success coordinating with senior leadership and in managing stakeholders
• Proven ability to manage various concurrent activities and projects in a fast-moving, high-risk environment
