Custody Sanctions Screening Operations (CSSO) Team is a global Custody business function of Level 2 potential sanctions match investigation, dispositioning, escalation, and other associated activities in the context of automatically and/or manually screened securities transactions, securities static data, and/or associated client static data.

Being the first line of defense, CSSO ensures that Citi Custody remains compliant with the global and country-level sanctions regulations by executing controls implemented by Citi.

We are seeking for an experienced Subject Matter Expert.

Scope of responsibilities:

  • Maintaining daily monitoring process of assets escalated to Sanctions Compliance for review and assessment of the sanctions’ applicability;
  • Immediate execution of the temporary restriction of such assets until the relevant assessment is provided;
  • End-to-end coordination, tracking & monitoring of the asset blocking process: cooperation with local operations teams globally to open segregated accounts, transfer the assets, directly executing some of the tasks in the book-keeping systems, preparing regulatory reports once all actions successfully completed, submitting them to Sanctions Compliance for review;
  • Strict adherence to process controls, evaluation of the effectiveness of these controls and their compliance with the Global Sanctions Policy;
  • Management of communication with internal stakeholders (Custody branches worldwide, client service, account and relationship managers, senior management);
  • Engagement in local, regional, and global initiatives driven internally within CSSO Asset Blocking Team or by external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • University degree (BA, or above) and min. 5 years of professional experience in banking/financial industry (background in accounting preferred);
  • Investigative mindset, inherent curiosity (asking “why”), ability to spot patterns, research skills;
  • Attention to detail, understanding of sanctions risk and its implications, diligence, discipline, and risk-averse approach;
  • Persuasion – ability to influence one’s stakeholders to deliver the required results within a specific timeline;
  • Resilience to stress and pressure, ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing, environment, ability to work against multiple, overlapping, and short-fuse deadlines, multitasking, effective management of own time and workload;
  • Strong command of English (C1);
  • Excel literacy – basic functions and pivot tables;
  • Strong awareness of the global geopolitical situation and major themes, especially in the context of sanctions.
